Recently, DALPUMPS Pumping Solutions carried out significant remedial works and a full installation of a new rising main at an industrial facility. The project, which involved precision engineering and careful site management, addressed significant challenges to deliver a robust and future-proofed pumping system.
Overcoming Complex Challenges
The project involved fitting a new 50mm rising main along the perimeter of the existing building, a task which involved meticulous excavation and installation. The team faced the challenge of working within a busy industrial site, requiring careful planning and a flexible approach to working to minimise disruption to operations. The use of a tanker unit was also required to empty and clean the pump station before works could begin. Additional remedial works were necessary to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
Scope of Work
The DALPUMPS team prepared the site by excavating the existing pump station and digging up a channel for the new rising main. The new pipework was installed and securely connected to the pump chamber. A full replacement of a faulty sewage pump was also carried out, with all concrete areas made good and waste materials removed from the site.
Innovative Solutions and Quality Assurance
To connect the new rising main, the team excavated the area around the existing pumping station and used a floor saw to break the concrete as needed. The new 50mm rising main was installed using fusion weld fittings for maximum durability. Inside the pump station, the pipework was upgraded with 2” Califlex and a 2” non-return valve (NRV), ensuring reliable operation.
The faulty sewage pump was replaced with a new single-phase unit, and a visual inspection was carried out to guarantee the site was left clean, safe, and secure.
