Pumping Stations

When it comes to new or existing sewage and storm water pumping stations you should make DALPUMPS your number one choice. We are an experienced pumping solutions team consisting of dedicated, hardworking engineers.

The first question we always ask our customers is ‘what are your pumping station requirements?’

Our customers will typically have either an existing pump station which is due for maintenance, or the need for a new installation to be fitted.

Pumping stations are put in place to help transport waste and foul water from one place to another efficiently and effectively. These are essential for many residential sites throughout the UK to help manage the flow of wastewater when gravity cannot do it alone!  Pump stations are designed to pump and move sewage from a low area directly into a Sewage Treatment Plant where the effluent can be treated before it is safely returned into the watercourse system.

They are often made up of a few components including a wet well, pump or pumps and a force main. These are typically found in domestic areas to help service groups of multiple properties.

There are two types of pump station found within England. They include Private pumping stations and Adoptable pumping stations.

Adoptable pumping stations are those which have ownership transferred to a Local Water Authority, these will usually include new developments and property sites. To ensure that the transfer is successful, water pumps must be compliant with the authorities standards and must follow a rigorous process to adoption. Once a transfer is successfully completed then it is the Local Authorities responsibility to maintain the pump station.

Private pump stations are different, these are also referred to as package pump stations and these are usually installed on smaller sites or individual properties. These are managed by the owner of the property.

If you are unsure about what you need our team can offer you guidance and advice on what options are best for you.

Borehole Pumps

If your property has access to a natural underground water source, you may request instillation or maintenance of a borehole pump. A borehole pump is a narrow rod that is drilled into the ground to create access to the water source. It is ideal to install a pump here: as rainwater is clear of unwanted debris, a borehole pump can use this natural source of water to regress for agriculture, construction and sometimes domestic use.
